Things you need to know before you buy a forklift.

There are several important questions to ask as you start buying new and used forklifts. You need to know what you have to have before you invest. These questions include:

How many hours per day will you use the lift?
If it is for occasional use or less than four hours a day, used is a good option. New and used forklifts have different challenges.
•
How much room do you have to move in?
Consider the width of your aisles and the amount of room around the forklift will have to back up and turn around in. Newer models will move better in small spaces.
•
Indoor use? Outdoor? Both?
Some engine types can only be used indoors, and some are only for outdoor use, the same with the tires. New and used forklifts both have something to offer each situation.

How heavy are your loads?
Light loads are fine for older, used forklifts. New forklifts are being designed to handle heavier and heavier loads.

How high does it need to lift?
Make sure the new and used forklifts will reach your highest storage areas.

What size are your loads?
Pallet loads are the standard forklift loads. If you have irregular, odd shaded or many different types of loads to move, you may want a new forklift that has attachments you can switch out.
